Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, duration and linear structure unveiled by Team Ninja

Interviewed by Spanish magazine Vandal, Team Ninja producer Masaaki Yamagiwa revealed something regarding the duration and linear structure of Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, the new classic action game in development at the Koei Tecmo team.

As for the duration, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is expected to consist of about 40 hours of gameplay, thus remarkable longevity, also considering the genre and its basic linearity, according to what the developers reportedly

Based on the details that have emerged, the game appears to be an evolution on the foundations of Nioh and the team's previous action games such as Ninja Gaiden, but with some peculiar elements. Like the former, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty also draws various cues from the RPG in terms of character progression and game content structure in main and side quests, for example.

However, the developers decided to use a more traditional and linear structure than the open world visible in other similar productions.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is therefore based on quests to be undertaken but these have a linear development, with a breakdown close to the classic levels.

Each level will have interconnected paths but there does not seem to be an overall open map. The presence of jumping and various movement options for the protagonist also hints at the exploitation of a certain verticality of space.

Otherwise, numerous details about Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty can be gleaned from the interview I conducted with Team Ninja, while various information about weapons and morale systems had previously emerged.
