Tekken 7: sales of 9 million copies, a record for the series

Katsuhiro Harada revealed via Twitter that Tekken 7 has sold a whopping 9 million copies, marking an all-time record for the series since its inception, which has sold a total of 53 million copies worldwide.

Tekken 7 has been released on Xbox One, PC, and PS4. More recently, a Legendary Edition was released for Xbox One and PS4 that includes some characters that can be purchased via DLC in the base title. The game was originally launched in 2015 as an arcade version, then in 2017 on home systems.

As you may know, this is the latest installment of one of the most famous 3D fighting game series from the PSX era. The first Tekken was released in 1994 first in the arcade, then in 1995 on Sony's console.

Sales of Tekken 7 have been really good and bode well for an eighth installment, which could be released during the PS5 / Xbox Series X generation.
