A wacky theory is circulating in the social spaces dedicated to Starfield, born out of some statements by Todd Howard, the game's director, that we will be able to kill the main character's parents in the game.
In a recent question-and-answer video, called the Constellation Questions Video, Howard explained that in Starfield you will be able to remove certain character traits through specific activities or quests.

The system is designed not to force players to remake a character from scratch if they have problems with his or her traits. So you can go through these quests and remove a given trait forever.
Interesting, isn't it? Howard naturally never mentioned killing parents or other such actions. What, then, gave rise to this belief? From the tract: "Kid Stuff," also visible in the video, the description of which reads, "Your parents are alive and well, and you can visit them at home. But 10 percent of all the money you earn is taken from you to be sent to them."
By now it should be clear how the parent-killing hypothesis came about: according to the players, it will be the way to remove the 10 percent contribution on earnings.
There is to be said that there could be many other ways to do this, such as guaranteeing them an income of some kind or making them rich in some way, but many people like to think of the worst immediately.
