The newly implemented VRR support on PS5 would seem to be less robust than the same feature on Xbox, at least according to Digital Foundry's Alex Battaglia's testimony.
We know that VRR on PS5 pushes games like Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales to over 100 fps, but apparently, the technology in question suffers from some limitations on the compatibility front on PlayStation 5.

"It seems VRR on PS5 is not as robust as it is on Xbox," Battaglia wrote. "My main screen is a Samsung NU 8000 and it appears to be unsupported at this time."
It seems VRR on PS5 is not as robust as on Xbox - my main display the Samsung NU 8000 seems unsupported ATM. Using Freesync Ultimate gets the PS5 to see the display has VRR (PC or Game console mode), but any VRR content blacks out/is unsupported. Anyone have luck with Freesync? pic.twitter.com/znXG4QSCzk

The point is that the TV in question is on the list of VRR-compatible TVs on PS5, but for one reason or another, it doesn't display content at variable refresh rate.
"Using Freesync Ultimate PS5 detects that the display has VRR support, but any content with variable refresh rate returns black screen or does not work."
