FIFA 23 says no to Russia: no teams and national team, official confirmation

Electronic Arts have confirmed that FIFA 23 will not include Russian clubs, including the national team. This decision is consistent with the previous removal of Russia from FIFA 22.

In a statement released to Eurogamer.net, EA said in translation, "EA Sports stands in solidarity with the Ukrainian people and, like so many voices throughout the soccer world, calls for peace and an end to the invasion of Ukraine. In line with our partners at FIFA and UEFA, EA Sports will not include the Russian national team or Russian clubs in FIFA 23."

Electronic Arts had also stopped selling Russian elements within Ultimate Team in FIFA 22. In addition, EA has stopped selling games and content-including virtual currencies-in Russia and Belarus until the invasion is over. Simply put, the choice not to include Russia in FIFA 23 was a logical consequence of EA's clear course of action.

EA also confirmed that FIFA 23 on Switch will be Legacy once again: it also indicated what content and new features will be present in this version of the game.
